Pharmacological action
Acyclovir is an antiviral ophthalmic drug. It exhibits activity against the Varicella-Zoster family of viruses, as well as Herpes simplex types 1 and 2. Acyclovir triphosphate acts as a nonspecific inhibitor, preventing viral DNA synthesis without damaging host cells. Acyclovir ophthalmic ointment is rapidly absorbed by corneal epithelial cells and periorbital tissues, creating the concentration of the drug in the aqueous humor necessary to suppress the virus.

Side effects
Side effects of the drug include: common: mild burning; uncommon: punctate superficial keratopathy, conjunctivitis; and in isolated cases, blepharitis. Allergic reactions are also possible: very rare: hypersensitivity reactions, including angioedema.
How to use, course of administration, and dosage f Acyclovir Eye Ointment
For adults and children, apply a 1 cm strip of ophthalmic ointment to the lower conjunctival sac 5 times daily (every 4 hours) until healing. Continue treatment for another 3 days after healing.
Interactions
Using acyclovir with immunostimulants enhances the effect of acyclovir.
Special instructions
The earlier treatment is started (at the first signs of infection), the higher the effectiveness of treatment. Contact lenses are not recommended during treatment with acyclovir ophthalmic ointment. The immune system is important for the therapeutic effect of acyclovir. Patients with weakened immune systems who are receiving topical acyclovir ointment should receive systemic administration, as is the case with severe and recurrent herpes infections. Effects on the ability to drive and operate machinery: After using the ointment, a temporary decrease in visual acuity is possible. Driving and engaging in activities requiring increased alertness and reaction time are not recommended until visual acuity is restored.

It is important to begin treatment as early as possible, preferably at the first signs and symptoms (prodromal or reddened). Treatment can also be started at later stages (papules or blisters).
Therapy should be continued until the blisters crust over or are completely healed. Treatment duration is at least 5 days; treatment can be extended for up to 10 days. If symptoms persist for more than 10 days, consult a doctor.
Use in Children
The dosage regimen for children is the same as for adults.

Be sure to tell your doctor if:
– You are pregnant;
– You are breastfeeding.
Use this medication only for cold sores on the lips and face. Do not apply to the mucous membranes of the mouth, eyes, or vagina. Do not use to treat genital herpes. Avoid contact with eyes.
If recurrent herpes symptoms are severe, consult your doctor.
Patients with cold sores should avoid transmitting the virus, especially if active lesions are present.
Patients with immunocompromised conditions are not recommended to use this medication.

Before using Exenza, clear your nostrils (gently blow your nose).
Before using Exenza for the first time, press the sprayer several times, directing the spray into the air until a uniform mist forms.
If more than four weeks have passed since the last use, the first spray should be directed into the air to prevent underdosing. Store the bottle with the cap tightly closed between uses.
When using, hold the bottle with the sprayer facing upward. Tilt your head slightly forward, insert the sprayer into one nostril, tilting the tip of the sprayer slightly away from the center of the nose, and press once. Repeat with the other nostril if necessary.
Single or multiple sprays can be administered in either nostril.

Pharmacological action
An anti-inflammatory agent with antimicrobial (bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes) and also keratoplastic action. Accelerates the maturation of boils. When applied directly to the skin, it causes mild irritation of sensory nerve endings, followed by a decrease in their sensitivity, which leads to the development of reflexes that alter tissue trophism. It causes denaturation of protein molecules.
Ichthyol also relieves itching and excessive keratinization by disrupting the incorporation of new protein molecules into keratin. This reduces skin density, improves elasticity, and eliminates excess flaking and calluses in areas of pressure and friction.

Erysipelas, eczema, pyoderma (a pustular skin disease), including Furunculosis, stationary and regressive stages of psoriasis, neuralgia and arthritis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ichthammol or any other components of the drug. Children under 12 years of age.

How to use, course of treatment, and dosage of Ichthyol Ointment 20% ichthammol
Topical application. Adults and children over 12 years of age: apply a thin layer to the affected areas of skin 1-2 times daily. Use a bandage if necessary.
